Microwave Field-Of-View9103-002
The diagram shows the typical field-of-view (FOV) of a radio telescope in terms of the average angular distance between solar-type stars. On average, there are several solar-type stars in the FOV for stars out to a distance of 1,000 light years. Thus, it is sensible to conduct an "All Sky Survey" at microwave frequencies to pixelize the entire celestial sphere.
