Detecting Extrasolar Planets.
- Use a two dimensional array of PIN photodetectors. The image of star will fall on one pixel, the image of the extrasolar planet on another pixel.

- Heterodyne detect the signals from each photodetector (pixel).

- Use the doppler shift of spectral lines from light reflected or emitted (infrared) by extrasolar planet to increase discrimination (contrast) with the radiation from the star.
