The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) in theOptical SpectrumRadobs Read MeThe files on this diskette are copies of documents uploaded onto OSU's Radobs Bulletin Board between December 11, 1990 and May 7, 1991. Some of the files include slight changes to numerical results, where errors have been noted. The files sizes of the earlier files listed in RADOBS.26 are slightly larger than uploaded onto Radobs, due to the later inclusion of Copyright notices. The actual files sizes of the later documents are slightly larger than listed, due to the later inclusion of the Radobs bulletin board reference numbers. This series of files on Optical SETI, is provided in the interests of science to OSU's Radobs bulletin board, the SETI Institute and other interested parties. It may be freely copied, in whole or in part, and distributed within these organizations and NASA. It should not be distributed without the Copyright notices attached. If any of this material is to be included in a book, report, proposal, journal, magazine, newspaper, or electronic media, the permission of the author must be sought first, and due acknowledgement given. The author has no objection to the use of this material for promoting scientific and public awareness of Optical SETI concepts, but wishes to retain his Copyright on this series of documents. A superbly illustrated Viewgraph Report on The Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) In The Optical Spectrum is expected to be available later this summer. It contains nearly 300 pages of text, graphs and diagrams explaining Optical SETI concepts and rationale. This report will be made available to selected organizations promoting SETI. The author is open to offers to write the first (technical) book on this subject. The files on this disk are in ASCII format and may be loaded into any text- processor for viewing and printing. Set the line length for > 76 characters to avoid text-wrapping. The advantage of using a text-processor to view and print the files is that the page breaks can be adjusted prior to printing. Alternatively, the files can be individually viewed and printed from the DOS prompt using TYPE FILENAME, and COPY FILENAME PRN commands, respectively.
