Target Star ListsThe official targeted star list for the then High Resolution Microwave Survey (HRMS) Project provided by Dr. Jill Tarter in 1991 may be downloaded below. It is a list that is continually refined and updated. The larger file contains a list of 800 solar-type stars within 80 light years of earth. The smaller file lists solar-type stars within 30 light years. The optical search is based on looking at the same stars that are the subject of the microwave search but observing the stars in the visible and the infrared. You can also view the more recent targeted lists for the Targeted Search at Parkes (Southern Hemisphere) and at Green Bank (Northern Hemisphere). The present COSETI Observatory target star list is based on the Green Bank list.
